September 5, 2025 | 9AM – 12PM | Leah Posluns Theatre, Prosserman JCC, 4588 Bathurst St
This training is designed for mental health professionals seeking practical, trauma-informed strategies to effectively support Jewish clients amid rising antisemitism.
In an era of increasing polarization, clinicians are encountering a surge in identity-based trauma when clients’ lived experiences are dismissed or politicized.
This workshop offers a framework for recognizing and responding to Traumatic Invalidation and the impact it has on both clients and clinicians.
Participants will walk away with practical tools for fostering trust, managing burnout, and incorporating advocacy ethically within their therapeutic work.
Learning Objectives:
By attending this workshop, participants will learn to:
-
Define traumatic invalidation in the context of antisemitism.
-
Apply at least 3 concrete therapeutic strategies to support clients dealing with identity-based trauma.
-
Recognize signs of vicarious trauma and moral injury in Jewish clinicians.
-
Create a personal, trauma-informed burnout prevention plan.
-
Integrate values-based activism and advocacy into clinical practice ethically.
Target Audience:
All mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers, and counsellors, as well as anyone who works with Jewish clients and is seeking practical, hands-on trauma-informed skills.
