Social Worker – Intake

Full-time; Permanent; 35 hours per week, potential evenings

Salary: BSW $67,000 to $88,000; MSW $76,000 to $101,000 based on experience

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client centered, family service agency and a Children’s Aid Society. We support the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, and education and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values.

About the Role

We are seeking a Social Worker – Intake; they will be responsible for intake assessments, crisis intervention, and providing essential referrals and counseling services. This position is the first point of contact for clients seeking assistance and must have strong clinical skills, the ability to navigate complex service systems, and a commitment to delivering client-centered care.

 

Responsibilities: â€‹â€‹

  • Conduct screenings, crisis interventions, risk assessments, and provide brief support via phone or face-to-face as needed.

  • Address client inquiries about services, review program materials, and refer clients to internal or external agencies for additional support such as financial assistance, legal aid, or housing.

  • Facilitate service coordination and navigation for clients.

  • Gather and complete all required information to support the intake process.

  • Maintain positive relationships with agency staff and other community resources, and network with related professional organizations.

  • Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they have access to services within the Agency and in the community.

  • Respond to emergency/crisis or walk-in situations calmly and in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:​

  • Master of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent degree. 

  • Minimum 3 years clinical or related experience required.

  • Registered member of OCSWSSW and in good standing.

  • Expertise in specific clinical therapeutic interventions such as single session, brief therapy, CBT, and/or group psychotherapy is an asset.

  • Knowledge of Matrix, CPIN and other data management systems is a strong asset. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy and the ability to work with a variety of styles and to appreciate diversity

  • Comprehension of Russian, Hebrew and/or French or another language reflecting the local community is an asset.
