Naomi Azrieli, DPhil.

Chair and CEO, The Azrieli Foundation

As Chair and CEO of the Azrieli Foundation, Canada’s largest public foundation, Dr. Naomi Azrieli has spent the last fifteen years focused on strategic philanthropy, modeling what is possible when substantial resources are managed with business best-practices, bold vision and commitment. She is the driver behind numerous programs and partnerships including the Azrieli Fellows Program, the Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program and the Azrieli Neurodevelopmental Research Program. Dr. Azrieli believes that the most important challenges – in science, education, health and communities - often lie at the boundaries between fields and has steered the Foundation towards multidisciplinary and collaborative initiatives. She believes passionately in the critical role of Canada’s philanthropic and corporate sectors in enabling programs that help all Canadians thrive and prosper. Inspired by her late father, David J. Azrieli, and in keeping with the vision of her family, Dr. Azrieli’s focus includes myriad approaches to supporting excellent institutions of higher education. As well, she is a strong advocate for children and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities, believing deeply that everyone deserves a life lived with dignity.
