All programs are conducted by professional facilitators. Fees are charged for some groups, but a fee reduction based on income may be requested. Our bereavement programs deal with a number of Jewish and spiritual aspects; however, we welcome all people regardless of cultural, religious and/or racial background or affiliation.

Therapeutic Bereavement Group 
Navigating Grief and Building Resilience

This group provides a safe therapeutic space for anyone grieving the recent death of someone significant in their life.

 

Topics will include:

-learn about and discuss common concepts in grief and bereavement
-be a safe therapeutic space to share, connect, learn and process your unique grief experience
-engage in mutual support with others who are grieving
-explore and practice new coping skills

This group is a safe space to share, connect, learn and process your unique grief experience.

 

During this group you will

  1. Apply therapeutic skills to process your loss

  2. Be provided with up to date and evidence based information about grief and bereavement

  3. Engage in mutual support with others who are grieving

  4. Engage in process oriented discussion

 

This group is facilitated by experienced social workers. Each participant will be provided with an assessment prior to group admission and guidance regarding best services for them.

Rebuilding After Spousal Loss

January 2025

For men and women who have lost a spouse or partner in the last 5-24 months.


To provide participants with an opportunity to explore within a safe and supportive environment, withdrawing their emotional energy from their grief and reinvesting it in other areas of their lives, such as relationships and/or activities. To give participants educational material and strategies that focus on rebuilding and help them to move forward.


Objectives:

- To understand and normalize rebuilding one’s life while managing other aspects of the grieving process

- To provide a mutually supportive setting that enables participants to examine their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours

- To help participants find new meaning and foster an environment to live purposefully while rebuilding.
