Social Worker – Domestic Violence (Hebrew Speaking) 

Full time | 35 hours per week

Salary based on experience | BSW: $63,000 to $82,000 | MSW: $71,000 to $94,000

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. We are seeking a Social Worker – Domestic Violence to provide direct counseling and other services and supports to clients, specializing in woman abuse and intimate partner violence. The successful candidate will be able to provide these services with fluency and ease in Hebrew. May carry other assignments as needed and appropriate and will carry out related activities and administrative tasks as necessary.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and provide case management coordination which may include the provision of information, advocacy and referrals to both agency and outside sources such as shelters or legal support programs.

  • Provide individual or group counseling to clients using a range of appropriate counselling modalities and techniques to best meet client needs.

  • Provide community based advocacy for access to services such as medical, legal, police departments, support services, therapy, and other related assistance. 

  • Develop ongoing referral relationships within the sectors which intersect with our clients’ needs including health, education, legal Children’s Aid Societies and other social service agencies.

  • Maintain an understanding of legislation and government prescribed procedures, regulations and standards for JF&CS programs.

  • Adheres to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) to protect service recipients’ privacy and establish rules for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information of individuals while facilitating the effective provision of service. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent 

  • Registered member of OCSWSSW in good standing

  • Fluency in Hebrew is a requirement 

  • Minimum 3 years clinical or related experience required

  • Experience in assessment and client service delivery

  • Knowledge and/or expertise in specific clinical therapeutic interventions such as brief therapy, CBT, and/or group psychotherapy

  • Strong clinical and assessment skills

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills in advocacy with both individuals and systems relevant to this client population  

  • The ability to establish rapport, credibility and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
