Office Support – Poverty Reduction

12 month contract; 35 hours per week, potential evenings

Salary: $48,000 to $60,000 based on experience

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. We are seeking an Office Support – Poverty Reduction to provide administrative support to the Poverty Reduction Team. This position is the first point of contact for all program related inquiries, including responding to administrative needs of the team both internally and externally.


  • Assist managers with compiling program statistics, generating reports, and preparing manuals and presentations as required.

  • Respond to inquiries and provides information to clients, visitors, and workers as required.

  • Provide administrative support for the Poverty Reduction team which may include screening phone calls, scheduling meetings and appointments, and other administrative tasks as needed.

  • Compile, input, and prepares, statistical data for the Poverty Reduction programs. 

  • Arrange client appointments for Furniture Bank, Alpha Omega Dental program and JVS appointments

  • Coordinate the Agency’s Bed program 

  • Liaise between Synagogues / Community organizations and Agency staff to assist with client’s access High Holiday tickets, Community Seders, and Passover 

  • Participate in the coordination of program initiatives such as Café Europa, JFLE mailing. 

  • Attend and/or coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and record meeting minutes as assigned.

  • Act as a back up to the Receptionist

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma in an Office Administration or related program.  

  • 2 years of related experience in social services or working with a community agency.  

  • Experience using complex database systems, management systems, and/or CMS systems. 

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Excellent verbal skills to liaise with a number of contacts including potentially hostile clients 

  • High-end technological skills, a good understanding of digital data systems, and a demonstrated ability to learn and master the use of new systems.

  • Comprehension of French or another language reflecting the local community will be considered an asset
