About the Role

We are seeking a Manager of Chaplaincy Services / Senior Rabbi to lead the delivery of spiritual care and rabbinic counselling for Jewish clients across hospitals, long-term care facilities, correctional institutions, and hospice services. This key leadership role includes overseeing the chaplaincy team, providing direct spiritual care, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care that integrates Jewish traditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide rabbinic counselling, spiritual support, and crisis intervention for clients in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and correctional institutions.

  • Lead and manage the chaplaincy team, including recruitment, supervision, and professional development.

  • Serve as the Jewish Chaplain for the Hospice Program, offering spiritual care, counselling, and grief support to clients and families.

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care that reflects Jewish values.

  • Maintain accurate client records and participate in program development and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Build and sustain relationships with religious, health, education, and social service organizations and institutions to enhance service delivery.

  • Lead efforts to expand chaplaincy services and develop new spiritual care programs and practices.

  • Ensure chaplaincy practices align with legal, ethical and regulatory requirements across the organization. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Rabbinic ordination from a recognized seminary.

  • 5+ years of experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, or related fields.

  • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certification or equivalent is required.

  • Strong knowledge of Jewish law, customs, and traditions across various movements.

  • Experience working in healthcare, hospice, or social service settings.

  • Advanced degree in social work, counselling, or related fields preferred.

  • Fluency in Hebrew, Yiddish, or Russian is an asset.

  • Proven expertise in pastoral counselling, crisis intervention, and working with diverse populations
