Lead Family Drop-In Facilitator

Full-time; 35 hours per week

Salary: $35,000 - $38,000 based on experience

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. We are seeking a Lead Family Drop-In Facilitator to assist in our Family Drop-In Program at our Family Resource Centre (FRC). This program provides early learning activities that encourage growth and development for parents/caregivers and their children up to the age of five. The incumbent will oversee the resources, workshops and community services held as part of the program. 

 

The successful candidate will:​​

  • Assist in delivering activities that enhance the social, emotional, physical, and mental growth of children and adults in a fun, play-based environment.

  • Support the Supervisor in coordinating the program as needed

  • Collaborate with the team to develop and deliver Family Drop-In programming

  • Facilitate and schedule specialists’ visits to the drop-in such as Public Health nurses, Early Literacy Specialists, etc. 

  • Arrange and track registration for pre-registered family programs

  • Support FRC visitors by providing appropriate Agency referrals and information about self-care practices for parents, child development and healthy family relationships. 

  • Prepare materials for programming including photocopying, researching etc. as needed.  

  • Undertake housekeeping duties such as cleaning and disinfecting toys, washing equipment, etc. 

  • Perform front desk responsibilities such as greeting families, signing-in visitors/registration, etc. as needed.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Social Service, Education or equivalent

  • Experience working with children and or parent/caregivers,

  • CPR/First Aid with AED Certificate

  • Experience working with diverse communities and cultures

  • Familiarity with Jewish values, culture, and traditions in a pluralistic and inclusive fashion an asset

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including Sundays.

  •  Fluency in French/Russian/Hebrew will be considered an asset
