Human Resources & Payroll Administrator

Full time | Salary based on experience


Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. This is a non-union position, due to the current pandemic environment this position is currently working remotely and is occasionally required to work from our offices. 

We are seeking a Human Resources & Payroll Administrator who will be responsible for a full range of human resources services with a focus on payroll, benefits, pension, and time and attendance administration.  Additional responsibilities include employee & labor relations, recruitment and selection, and other human resources support. 


  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of a semi-monthly payroll for 140 plus employees ensuring compliance to legislative requirements and the collective agreement.

  • Maintain ADP payroll database such as new employees & updating employee changes

  • Reconcile monthly remittances for government and non-government bodies, balance payroll accounting reports, and reconcile in preparation for general ledger (GL).

  • Process government and non-government remittances and internal reporting (WSIB, EHT, Record of Employment etc).

  • Administration of OMERS Pension Plan and reconciliation of records

  • Track and monitor compensation systems: salary, benefit programs, attendance management, performance management.

  • Ensure human resources information is updated and maintained accurately in HRIS.

  • Perform year end reconciliations such as T4’s, T4A’s, vacation and sick time accruals.

  • Respond to employee enquires relating to payroll, vacation, sick time, benefit plan etc.

  • Provide support in the interpretation of the collective agreement, HR policies and procedures while ensure consistent application across the Agency.

  • Assist employee with human resources issues, rules, and regulations.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of employee records.

  • Represent the Agency’s mission, vision, and values in the community.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Undergraduate degree or post-secondary diploma in human resources or related field.

  • 3 years of relevant experience in Payroll, Benefits and Human Resources.

  • Membership with the Certified Payroll Association (CPA).

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills specifically excel

  • Experience in ADP Workforce Now or related HRIS systems are required

  • Willing to take initiative and work independently when needed.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Comprehension of French or another language will be considered an asset
