Human Resources Policy and Process Intern

Student; Casual Contract; 35 hours per week

$15 per hour


Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. We are recruiting for a Human Resources (HR) Policy and Process Intern to work closely with the HR Team, assisting them with administration and the creation of policies and processes. This contract position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, and requires the incumbent to be between the ages of 18 and 30. The candidate must also be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.



  • Maintaining, reviewing, and updating policies and procedures according to internal procedures and controls; 

  • Mapping processes, drafting, developing, reviewing, and amending policies and procedures; 

  • Creating and automating workflow charts; 

  • Reviewing and amending policies and procedures of the Human Resources department ensuring compliance with provincial and federal governments; 

  • Analyzing, simplifying, and summarizing complex information accurately

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 



  • Post-secondary education in the area of Human Resources Management, Communications, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in reaching and interpreting provincial and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures will be an asset. 

  • Experience in policy and procedure writing will be considered an asset.

  • Exceptional written communication skills, to include composition, spelling, and grammar for editing documents produced in the English Language 

  • Knowledge in ADP Workforce now is an asset

  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge in Microsoft Office.

  • Self-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervision.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
