Child and Youth Worker

10 month contract; 40 hours per week

Salary: $72,000 to $85,000 based on experience

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Child & Youth Workers (CYW) to join the team at our Jerome D. Diamond (JDD) Adolescent Centre, a specialized children’s mental health centre and a program of JF&CS. The JDD Centre supports adolescents with complex educational, emotional, and/or behavioural needs through a structured treatment program. This positions offer an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth during the school year (September to June), and will cover a maternity leave.

 

Responsibilities: ​​

  • Deliver direct treatment services (care, coaching and counselling) to youth on a daily basis as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the team and families.

  • Support and advocate for clients to ensure they have access to services internally and in the wider community.

  • Plan and participate in therapeutic programming and recreational activities (e.g. yoga, art therapy, cooking, CBT).

  • Supervise and assist students during non-academic instructional periods, e.g., recess, lunch, arrival/dismissal, etc.

  • Participate in school wide events and special observances (e.g. graduation, holidays cultural celebrations, etc.).

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation aligned with professional standards and Agency and Day Treatment Policy.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external professionals to ensure comprehensive service.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Work or equivalent.

  • Experience working in a Day Treatment Program is an asset.

  • Understanding of mental health, trauma informed care, and adolescent development.

  • Knowledge of community services and resources relevant to youth and families.

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including documentation and time management.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness to the needs of a dynamic treatment setting.

  • Ability to speak French or another language is considered an asset.
