Social Worker – Family Services

Full-time; 12 month contract; 35 hours per week

Salary: BSW $67,000 to $88,000; MSW $76,000 to $100,000 based on experience

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered, family service agency and a Children’s Aid Society.  We support the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, and education and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values.

About the Role

We are seeking a Social Worker – Family Services to provide support to two programs: Support Ability and Poverty Reduction. In this role you will provide direct counseling, case management, financial assistance, and other practical and concrete services to clients using appropriate techniques and methods of social work practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support, advocacy and counselling to families and their special needs children and youth (ages 0-18) dealing with a variety of physical and/or developmental disabilities as part of the Support Ability Program (SAP)

  • Formulate and develops client-centered service plans 

  • Promote SAP within the community, including participating in community information sessions 

  • Support and advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they have access to services within the Agency and in the community

  • Perform psycho-social assessments of individuals and families

  • Provide clients with basic financial literacy and budgeting supports through poverty reduction methodologies 

  • Formulate and develop client-centered service plans related to poverty reduction 

  • Facilitate the provision of financial assistance based on Agency guidelines

  • Collaborate with Agency and community services in order to provide the best service for clients.

  • Perform other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • MSW or BSW

  • Minimum 3 years related clinical experience

  • Member of OCSWSSW in good standing

  • Direct experience with financial, social assistance programs and government supports

  • Knowledge and/or expertise in specific clinical therapeutic interventions such as brief therapy, CBT, and/or group counselling  

  • Knowledge of Jewish community needs and resources is an asset 

  • Knowledge of French and/or another language will be considered an asset 

  • Facilitate the provision of financial assistance based on Agency guidelines

  • Collaborate with Agency and community services in order to provide the best service for clients.

  • Perform other duties as required
