Family Life Education Facilitator

(Fee for Service Agreement)

Jewish Family & Child is a multi-service, client-centered, family service agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. We are seeking a Family Life Education Facilitator to facilitate weekly group sessions and workshops for the Agency’s Family Life Education and Changing Family programs. Topics include bereavement, family legal clinics, changing family, parenting, and life skills. Groups run both during the day and in the evenings for 4, 6, and/or 8 week sessions.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare for and facilitate short term Family Life Education and Changing Family psycho-educational groups or workshops on a variety of family life issues including marriage preparation, bereavement, parenting, etc.

  • Follow standard curriculum for programs and supervise all program activities.

  • Engage with clients by offering guidance, support, and encouragement to promote their emotional health and well-being.

  • Facilitate all aspects of the workshops including pre-program planning, shopping for supplies as needed, preparing and printing materials, set-up and clean-up of program, etc.

  • Complete case note documentation, workshop attendance and other confidential documents in compliance with the Agency and community standards.

  • Assist with marketing and outreach for the program as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Social Service, or equivalent.

  • 2 to 3 years of experience facilitating long term and/or short term workshops.   

  • Certification in Life Skills Coaching would be considered an asset.

  • Expertise in facilitating psycho-educational groups.

  • Knowledge of group dynamics and group process.

  • Valid Ontario’s driver’s license and access to vehicle.

  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluency in French, Russian, Hebrew or another language considered an asset.
