Manager, Communications

12 month maternity leave contract; Salary: based on experience

 

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. We are seeking a Manager of Communications to lead the Agency’s internal and external communication strategy.  This includes managing media and public relations activities for promoting positive public understanding and support for the Agency. In this role, you will also work with internal and external stakeholders on projects and activities related to communications, fundraising, partnership building, and strategic plan initiatives.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create, implement and oversee internal and external communications programs that effectively describe and promote the agency and our services.  

  • Lead brand strategy to ensure consistency, quality and impact of messages and mediums. 

  • Incorporate innovative ways to promote new and existing programs via social media, agency website, and other mediums. 

  • Work with management to develop strategies and tactics to achieve the goals and aspirations of the Agency, working with internal departments/staff and external vendors as needed. 

  • Manage budgets for campaigns, including Facebook ads, Instagram ads, and additional advertising.

  • Guide the strategy and execution of strategic plan initiatives related to communications. 

  • Develop, implement and evaluate the annual communication plan for the Agency. This includes developing annual communication goals and key messages as well as communication materials and infographics to communicate agency data, outcomes and impact in collaboration.

  • Manage the development and distribution of Agency brochures, pamphlets, reports and newsletters.

  • Participate in the coordination of the AGM and related materials.

  • Design promotional material to support fundraising initiatives, including the Annual Campaign and Annual Report.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in public relations/communications or a related field

  • 5 years of progressive experience in communications/public relations is required, marketing experience will be a strong asset 

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Experience in social services, non-profit, or government environment is an asset

  • Good knowledge of the Jewish community is a definite asset

  • Proven ability to develop PR strategies, successfully manage senior stakeholders and communicate recommendations to executives.

  • Strong written skills, for print and digital materials, and proven ability to synthesize information with a focus on relevant and pertinent details

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effective media relations as part of integrated public-relations campaigns

  • Comprehension of French or another language will be considered an asset
