Social Worker – Family Services

Full-time; 9 month contract; 35 hours per week; potential evenings

Salary: BSW $66,000 to $86,000; MSW $74,000 to $99,000 based on experience

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered, family service agency and a Children’s Aid Society.  We support the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, and education and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values.

 

About the Role

We are looking for two Social Workers to join our team and offer counseling services to individuals of all age groups, including children, adolescents, seniors, and families. This position involves providing temporary or extended support to address service gaps that may occur due to staff absences, client emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances, all in the interest of fulfilling client requirements.

As part of this position, you may be allocated to collaborate with different teams specializing in various areas such as Counselling, Financial Aid, Domestic Violence, Family Therapy, and Holocaust Survivor Services, among others.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer counseling to clients, utilizing a variety of methodologies, practices, and techniques to address their individual needs.

  • Collaborate with families, the community, and other professionals to deliver consultation and supportive services.

  • Conduct psycho-social assessments for both individuals and families.

  • Engage in consultations and partnerships with professionals in the community, such as schools and children's mental health centers.

  • Develop client-centric service plans, encompassing crisis interventions, internal agency responses, referrals, linkages to external resources, and follow-ups.

  • Provide guidance on budgeting and money management to clients facing financial hardship and poverty-related challenges.

  • Offer empowerment, advocacy, and problem-solving support to help clients navigate intricate financial systems and make appropriate referrals to the Financial Empowerment and Problem Solving (FEPS) program when necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Social Work and/or Masters of Social Work or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical or related experience required.

  • Registered member of OCSWSSW in good standing.

  • Knowledge and/or expertise in clinical therapeutic interventions.

  • Strong clinical and assessment skills.

  • Knowledge of Matrix and other data management systems is a strong asset.

  • Comprehension of French/Russian/Hebrew will be considered a strong asset.
