Social Worker – Child, Adolescent and Family Counselling

Full time, 12 month contract | 35 hour work week, potential evenings 

Salary Range: $69,000 - $92,000 based on experience


Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. We are seeking a Social Worker – Child, Adolescent and Family Counselling to provide direct counselling to children, adolescents, families, community agencies, and address issues that are preventing students from academic success. This includes case management, provision of financial assistance, and other services to children, adolescents, individuals and families using appropriate techniques and methods of social work practice. This position is part of the resiliency work focussing on newly vulnerable members of the community due to Covid-19.



  • Provide individual and/or family counselling to client(s) using a range of appropriate methodologies, practices and techniques to meet client(s) needs

  • Provide support to clients, particularly parents on parenting during a pandemic

  • Conduct psycho-social assessments of individuals and families

  • Develop positive relationships with school staff, students and their families and contribute significantly to building a learning team

  • Function as a member of the various student success planning sessions

  • Liaise with school designates, with families and with other professionals to provide consultation and support services

  • Formulate and develop client-centered service plans including crisis interventions, internal agency response and referrals, linkages and referrals to external resources, follow-ups, etc.

  • Provide budgeting and money management supports to clients dealing with financial hardship and poverty-related challenges

  • Deliver empowerment, advocacy, and problem solving supports to help clients navigate complex financial systems and provides referrals to the Financial Empowerment and Problem Solving program as appropriate.

  • Facilitate coordination of services, which includes the provision of information, advocacy, and referral to both internal Agency and external resources.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • MSW or equivalent.

  • Registered member of OCSWSSW in good standing

  • Minimum of 3 years related clinical experience

  • Knowledge and/or expertise in specific clinical therapeutic interventions, such as Motivational Interviewing, Brief Therapy, CBT, and/or group psychotherapy

  • Strong clinical and assessment skills

  • Clinical case-management and financial literacy knowledge experience

  • Knowledge of Matrix and other data management systems is a strong asset

  • Comprehension of French or another language will be considered an asset
