Family Support Program
Services for Children with Special Needs and Their Families
Jewish Family & Child is committed to supporting children with developmental challenges to maximize their opportunities for success and independence. Our Family Support Program provides a range of case management services to families of developmentally challenged children and works with parents to enhance their children's quality of life. Case management services include:
- assessment of the child's and the family's needs, in order to access appropriate resources, services and supports
- development and coordination of a support plan
- provision of support, advocacy, counselling and education to families
Our clients are families in Greater Toronto and York Region, who have children up to the age of 18 who are living at home and have, or are suspected of having, developmental difficulties. Referrals are accepted directly from the family, social services agencies, schools and other community programs.
The Family Support Program helps families make connections to appropriate services from community agencies, schools, medical professionals and government programs. We provide current information on resources, government funding and funding from other sources, respite care, and educational and recreational services (including one-to-one counsellors for children attending summer camp or school break programs). Parent support groups are offered at different times throughout the year.
