Counselling Groups

Counselling Groups at Jewish Family & Child offer help for children and teens with challenging behaviours or social difficulties, and their parents. We have a broad range of services to help families cope with the challenges of everyday life. The counselling group program offers parents an opportunity to discuss those challenges and develop effective parenting strategies. The program offers children and adolescents a positive, social group experience.

Would you like life with your child or adolescent to be...
  • Better behaviourally? But conflict aggression and poor communication are getting in the way.
  • Better socially? But your child is having difficulty making or keeping friends, is isolated from his or her peers, and is lonely.
  • Better emotionally? But your child is experiencing low self-esteem, lack of confidence, problems controlling anger, or lack of motivation.

Is your family experiencing any of the following?
  • Parental disagreement
  • Parent-child conflict
  • Lack of effective communication

Our Group Counselling Program provides support and concrete assistance.

  • An opportunity to develop parenting techniques that correspond to and enhance your child’s developmental challenges
  • Strategies for using your connection with your child to create an improved relationship
  • A renewed understanding of your child or adolescent
  • Opportunities for discussion with other parents

For children and adolescents:
  • An opportunity to participate in a positive social experience
  • The chance to meet regularly to interact and discuss important issues with peers
  • A place to learn and practice strategies for developing satisfying relationships
