FOSTER

There are between 80 and 100 Jewish children who are in the care of Jewish Family & Child (a government-mandated Children's Aid Society). Unfortunately, that number only continues to increase and we have been struggling to place children in Jewish homes. We welcome Jewish foster parents* of all levels of religious observance across the GTA. It is our hope that together, we can explore if fostering is right for you and if this is the right time for your family to become involved, but we believe you need more information before you consider taking on this very important role.

*One parent per home must be Jewish. Single parent homes and LGBT homes are welcome. Per diem costs and training are always provided


VOLUNTEER

It's easy to be part of the Jewish Family & Child Volunteer Team. Below are just a few of the ways in which you can get involved!

TUTORS help students one-to-one in their homes, at one of our Homework Clubs, or at the Jerome D. Diamond Adolescent Centre improve in their schoolwork

BIG BROTHERS AND SISTERS are important friends and role models for Jewish children

DRIVERS take children in Foster Care to appointments with doctors, social workers or to meetings with their parents

VISITORS spend time with people who are socially isolated

CAFE EUROPA VOLUNTEERS host Holocaust survivors each month for social and cultural programming, over lunch at the Bernard Betel Centre for Creative Living.
